In May 2025, ARIN-CARIB, represented by Olivia Davis and Debra Whittington, joined colleagues from across the globe at Europol Headquarters in The Hague for the 11th Regional Asset Recovery Interagency Network (ARINs) Meeting. The event brought together presidencies and secretariats from regional networks spanning Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, and Europe, alongside Europol, Eurojust, Interpol, and other international partners.
The meeting focused on:
Legislative updates from the European Commission, including the new Anti-Money Laundering Package and ProtectEU initiative.
Operational advances such as Europol’s Project ASSET Sprint, which identified €60 million in criminal assets in its first edition.
Collaboration initiatives like ARINs Talk, designed to standardize mutual legal assistance templates, create a shared glossary, and strengthen cross-border cooperation.
Regional challenges highlighted by ARIN-CA (Central Africa), including gaps in legal frameworks and capacity for asset recovery.
ARIN-CARIB’s participation underscored its commitment to building stronger partnerships, sharing best practices, and advancing the fight against financial crime. The meeting reinforced the importance of global cooperation in tracing, freezing, and confiscating illicit assets, ensuring that criminal profits are disrupted worldwide.
