On June 22nd and 23rd, 2022, the Spanish CARIN Presidency in collaboration with the Europol Financial Economic Crime Center (EFECC) hosted the Eighth Meeting of the Regional Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Networks at the Europol Headquarters, the Hague, Netherlands.
This meeting, convened after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was attended by representatives from the Presidencies and Secretariats of the eight current global Asset Recovery Interagency networks. Also in attendance were representatives from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the EU Commission, Asset Reality and the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ). It provided an opportunity for network representatives to share and learn from each other’s structures and methods of cooperation, to discuss operational and strategic cooperation between the asset recovery networks, discuss trends, identify and share best practices, and examine and find possible solutions to barriers to legal or effective cooperation.
The ARIN-CARIB Network was represented at this meeting by Mr. Richard Barrow and Ms. Debra Wilkinson of the Presidency and Secretariat respectively.
